Methodist Home

The Methodist Home for children opened in 1886 as a home for unwed mothers.  In 1973, its mission was redirected to become a care facility for the children who were victims of abuse and/or abandonment and neglect.  The children are referred by the Louisiana office of community services and range from 8-18 years of age.  The home accepts children of all faiths, and a part time chaplain is on staff to provide guidance, comfort, and weekly services for the children.  They provide an alternative school for those who are not able to attend regular schools.
